Every Second Friday
a little intro on a thursday
Community. That’s the core of my desire in creating this Substack.
Has writing words on Facebook been incredible? Absolutely. And it is most definitely something that I will continue to do as long as the app exists. It has given me the ability to gain the friendship and support of so many humans, and for that I will be eternally grateful.
But what I’ve been lacking there is community. Knowing more about you; you knowing more about me. As much as I love so many things about FB, it doesn’t always feel like the most coziest spot to share your feels. I’m hopeful that this will be different.
For example, something that you may or may not know about me is that I love meeting friends for coffee. The simple act of chatting with a good friend (while sipping good coffee) is something that will fill my cup to the brim, every single time. So often in adulthood we only get together with friends when there is something to celebrate, or something to mourn. And while the gathering of friends for such events will always be treasured honour, there’s just something so comforting about talking about nothing in a coffee shop with someone that means so much to you.
(it’s also one of the very few things that I will willingly leave my house for, so there’s that)
So that brings me to my bi-weekly newsletter ‘Every Second Friday,’ which - you guessed it - will be published every second Friday. Each post will carry the subtitle ‘a short list of the things I’d tell you over coffee’ - And that is exactly what will be included in this post. Books that I’m reading, foods that I’m eating, clothes that I’m wearing, things that I’m eyeing. It may be about a child’s upcoming birthday, or what I have planned for the upcoming weekend.
It will simply be a chat about nothing, while simultaneously creating everything. A space to learn ‘the little things’ about me, and a space in the comments (or chat, for paid subscribers) for me to learn ‘the little things’ about you. Tell me about the sweatpants that changed your life this week; tell me about the yogurt bowl that you devoured. Tell me that this week was a little harder than normal, but an evening of wine with your spouse somehow lightened the load. Tell me that the weather has been shitty this week, but snacks and reading and your favourite tv show has definitely made it feel a little less painful.
I will be drinking coffee as I write it; I envision you drinking coffee as you read it.
Long story short - It will be a (virtual) coffee date every second Friday, and I hope you look forward to this day as much as I will.
The first one arrives tomorrow.
Be sure to pick your favourite coffee mug for the occasion.
Love Always,
Heather
P.S. - Whether you’re a free or paid subscriber, this one’s for you. Watch your inbox - Every second Friday. x

I love everything about this! This week was long and draining. And now I'm relaxing with my hubby watching WWE Money In The Bank. We love wrestling. Lol. And so, I'm happy ❤️
Love this!
